Hello,
Yes it has been a while, but I have now got an incentive to write again. On Wednesday, November 02, 2005 I wrote
I think the parrot has pulled one of the keys off my new one-handed keyboard and broke it, I'm really annoyed. I was getting used to it as well, I will try to get it repaired.
I first mentioned my Frogpad on October the 2nd so I barely had a months practice on it. I sent my Frogpad back to the USA to be repaired (thank you Richard :) It was returned to me last Wednesday (thank you Fedex :) This might all seem like inane rambling but there is a point.
In 1973 I taught myself to touch type in a week, how mad is that? There is a reason I learned it so fast, I had had no previous experience of typewriter keyboards, so never aquired the bad habit of looking at my fingers whilst typing, sadly this marvelous arrangement did not continue :( (Fast forward ten years) Around 1983 I got caught up in the home computer revolution and discovered the magic of programing and completely forgot my previous revolution of touch typing, and aquired the terrible habit of looking at the keyboard whilst typing. I s'pose typing errors are more serious when programming than when just writing.
The reason I learned to touch type in '73 was to write a journal of the year, I spent backpacking around Europe with my ex wife. I can clearly remember being able to completely concentrate on the writing and forget the process of actually typing, this is the ability I am trying to recover.
